The Jersey Island

The genetic base of the Island herd is assessed by the Animal Data Centre in the United Kingdom using milk records independently collected on the Island. the A.D.C. is the Official Interbull animal evaluation unit for both the UK and the channel Islands and all figures quoted in this brochure are the published Jersey Island proofs issued by them. Care must be taken not to confuse any relationship between the UK Jersey cattle population proofs and the Islands', as they are treated as having totally different genetic bases. Therefore, although calculated by the same formulae they are not directly comparable.
